My main therapeutic approach is CBT which is widely accepted as an evidence-based, cost-effective psychotherapy for many disorders. It is increasingly the therapy of choice of the NHS. CBT addresses negative thoughts and unhelpful behaviours in order to change the way we feel and so gain greater balance in life.
Is the art of living in the present with full awareness and can be a powerful therapeutic aid. Many of the difficulties people face can be addressed with a mindful attitude as this can bring a sense of balance and tranquillity in their lives. After an initial treatment with CBT, Mindfulness can help to consolidate what was achieved and thus prevent relapses. As I learn and practice Mindfulness, I am increasingly introducing it into my work.
I work in collaboration with you to help you identify your needs and goals and I aim to empower and support you in finding your own solutions to your difficulties.
I help individuals, couples and families to develop a better and more compassionate understanding of their difficulties. I encourage my clients to find realistic and effective ways to change what is not working so well, so they can regain a sense of balance and wellbeing in their lives.
Most of the work I do is short term, solution focused, and lasting 6-12 weeks. Occasionally, in more complex cases, more sessions might be recommended.

Having been a community mediator, a parenting adviser with Parentline Plus for 5 years and having run workshops on Non-Violent or Compassionate Communication, I have a special interest in relationship and communication issues.
If you do not have an acute problem and are just looking for support in developing a particular area of your life, I also offer coaching and training for individuals and groups in assertiveness, Non-Violent Communication, overcoming stress, self awareness, parenting and anger management.
£40 per 50-60 min session.
£60 per 90 min sessions.
Reduced rates: I offer up to 50% discount to students, the unemployed and those on low income, in order to make counselling affordable to all.
